MTE kicks up a storm in the Northern Cape

One 7-9 July, Mining and Technical Exhibitions (MTE) hosted two expos in the Northern Cape, that saw exhibitors and visitors of all shapes and sizes converge to share knowledge and network, and strut their stuff at the Kathu golf day.

The Northern Cape, made famous by its diamond mines, is home to other types of mind too – in the case of Hotazel and Kathu, manganese and iron ore are the mines of choice. And, as such, these two areas provide the perfect platform for MTE.

Strong relationships in these areas are a big part of why the exhibitions where successful, bringing customised, quality exhibitions which are not only beneficial but also ensure the longevity of the mines by bringing the buyer and supplier together.

The Northern Cape expo is split over two days, with a golf day in between. First up was Hotazel, which saw 198 visitors come out to see what was on offer. The Kathu expo had 240 visitors and, while both expos had less visitors this year than last year, feedback from the exhibitors was positive.

The golf day, held at the Kathu Golf Club, was a smashing success. 18 4-ball teams spent the day out in the sun, trying to prove their mettle. With prizes supplied by SEW-Eurodrive, Plascon, Osborn, and more, the golf day was well-supported and enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

Andrew Macnamara, MTE’s operations manager, says, “We had a good week in the Northern Cape. The golf day, in particular, was very successful, and we look forward to getting back to Kathu and Hotazel next year."
