Deep in the heart of South Africa’s Limpopo province is Mogalakwena mine. This large opencast mine, situated near the town of Mokopane, within the Mogalakwena Local Municipality, is wholly-owned by Anglo American and represents one of the largest platinum reserves in South Africa.
The mine was established in 1993 and is currently the largest open pit platinum mine in the world. In 2014, Mogalakwena delivered more than 370 000 ounces of equivalent refined platinum, an increase of 70 000 ounces over 2012.
Anglo American is the largest producer of platinum worldwide, accounting for nearly 40% of the total global platinum production. The company mines over two million ounces of platinum annually, along with more than one million ounces of palladium.
Exhibitors should include companies that supplies equipment or products to the platinum industry mines, or suppliers of equipment or products that can be used in the platinum mining process. Mogalakwena is part of southern Africa’s world-famous platinum belt so, if you’re involved in that business, then this is the expo for you.
