Blanket is a village and a gold mine in the province of Matabeleland South, Zimbabwe. It is located about 6km north-west of Gwanda.
It is a well-established Zimbabwean gold mine, which operates at a depth of about 750m below surface and produced around 45 500oz of gold in 2013. Blanket also holds brownfield exploration and development projects both on the existing mine area and on its satellite properties, which are within trucking distance of the Blanket metallurgical recovery plant.
In November 2014, Caledonia announced a revised investment plan for the Blanket Mine in terms of which production is expected to increase to about 80 000 ounces of gold by 2021 following the investment of about USD70-million, all of which is expected to be funded from internal cash generation and existing cash resources.
Also in Gwanda is one of three PPC cement factories in Zimbabwe. The company has been making marked investments inroads in Zimbabwe with a focus not only in new products but boosting capacity at its existing plants. In 2014, the company invested about USD25-million at its Gwanda clinker plant to improve efficiency and reliability of the factory. Employees from PPC’s Gwanda facility will be invited to the show.
Exhibitors we would like to see at the Zimbabwe shows include those from bore mills, crushers, gearboxes, screens, belt weighers, energy management, low-cost housing, motors, reagents, mechanical, electrical, filters and instrumentation.
- This is our 1st exhibition in the area.
